AcademiaNet

SNSF to run AcademiaNet platform, giving women researchers more visibility.

As of January 2020, the SNSF will run the AcademiaNet platform for a period of at least five years. The online portal contains the profiles of over 2800 outstanding women researchers from all over Europe. AcademiaNet lends them greater presence and visibility, thereby increasing their chances of obtaining, for example, senior academic positions as well as opportunities to speak at academic conferences or to brief journalists in an expert role.

The portal was set up by the Robert Bosch Stiftung in Stuttgart and managed by the latter in collaboration with the "Spektrum der Wissenschaft" publishing house through to the end of 2018. The cooperation with "Spektrum der Wissenschaft" will be continued under the auspices of the SNSF. In turn, the Robert Bosch Stiftung will continue to co-finance the portal during the next five years.
