Snapshot of Swiss research on Covid-19
A new SNSF database lists Swiss research projects that are investigating solutions to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Researchers in Switzerland are working hard to improve the clinical and public health response to the Covid-19 pandemic. The SNSF’s Covid-19 project database provides the public with a snapshot of these efforts.
The database contains all research projects supported by the SNSF on the topic of Covid-19. In addition to normally funded projects, the database includes projects funded through the special call on coronaviruses. In the future, the database will also list projects that are part of the National Research Programme “Covid-19” (NRP 78). In addition, the database contains projects financed by other sources, currently Innosuisse and the European research framework programme Horizon 2020, with Swiss participation.
The database details what is being researched and who is doing it. Scientific articles and reports published from these funded projects will also be made available, insofar as possible.
At present, the project database offers a panorama of publicly funded research on Covid-19 in Switzerland, excluding projects financed by universities and hospitals themselves. The database makes projects accessible through higher-level repositories, such as international health organisations and research networks, and the European Union. Accordingly, the database has been designed with a focus on openness and interoperability to make the data easy for others to use.
