Germany

At the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), the Weave process is available in the funding scheme for individual grants.

The duration of the projects is the same in both countries and must not exceed 36 months. The project is due to start on the same date in both countries.

Weave applications are part of the SNSF's "project funding" instrument. Within this instrument, applicants are entitled to have up to three grants running simultaneously, provided that one of them is a Weave/Lead Agency/International Co-Investigator Scheme or European Partnership project and provided the three projects clearly address different topics.

If the application is submitted to the DFG, a copy must be submitted to the SNSF via mySNF within seven days.

Applications submitted to the SNSF are evaluated separately by the evaluation bodies of the SNSF and the DFG. The evaluation generally takes at least six months.

In addition to individual grants, Swiss researchers can apply for funding in the following schemes with multi-stage evaluation procedures. In both cases, the evaluation is performed by the DFG.

  • Priority Programmes: participation at project level, researchers in Switzerland can submit applications under a German PI (maximum project duration in both countries: 36 months).
  • Research Units: up to two Swiss subprojects or participations in German subprojects (maximum project duration in both countries: 48 months)

Submission of a draft proposal for the Pririotiy Programme or Research Units to the SNSF is not necessary. Please submit only the full proposal via mySNF.

The DFG does not set any specific deadlines and proposals can therefore be submitted all year round.

Applications have to be submitted in English.
