Women's session approves motion on equality in research
The federal government is called upon to link university funding and the allocation of third-party funds in research promotion to equality standards.
The 246 women who took part in the two-day session in Bern adopted this motion, put forward by their science commission, almost unanimously. The proposal is supported by the SNSF.
Other research policy demands were also adopted with large majorities. They include the proposal for a National Research Programme on gender medicine, implemented by the SNSF, as well as the demand to create more permanent positions for academic staff and at least twelve new professorships for gender studies.
All 23 motions adopted by the women's session were handed over to parliament.
