Announcement CHIST-ERA 2019: new themes for European projects
Since 2010, the European network CHIST-ERA has supported research collaborations in Europe in information and communication sciences and technologies.
This year CHIST-ERA promotes projects that address the two following themes:
- Explainable Machine Learning-based Artificial Intelligence
- Novel Computational Approaches for Environmental Sustainability
Researchers may submit a pre-proposal from1 December 2019 until 14 February 2020. Applicants whose pre-proposals are accepted will be informed in April 2020 and invited to submit a full proposal.
Researchers from at least three countries
International consortia composed of researchers from at least three of the twenty-three following countries may submit a proposal: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada (Quebec), Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Great-Britain, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland and Turkey. To contribute to the growth and propagation of scientific excellence in the European Union, the consortia are encouraged to include researchers from enlargement countries or non-EU countries participating in European research programmes.
Support by the SNSF
An international panel will evaluate the outlines and proposals scientifically. Each partner of a consortium is supported by a funding agency from his or her country or region. Applicants from Switzerland have to be eligible for the SNSF project funding scheme and are strongly encouraged to contact us in case of first submission to the SNSF.
Along with the CHIST-ERA application, they need to submit an administrative application to the SNSF via mySNF (under Programmes/ERA-NET/pre-proposal or Programmes/ERA-NET). It is also recommended, that the consortia explain at the time of application how they intend to meet the requirements in the areas of open access to publications and data.
