Enlargement contribution for Romania
Cooperation with Eastern Europe
The Romanian-Swiss Research Programme (RSRP) is aimed at research groups in Switzerland and in Romania who wish to conduct a joint research project. A single call was opened for the programme on 30 September 2011 and closed on 31 January 2012.
A total of 65 applications were submitted for the RSRP, of which 26 were approved; total funding amounted to CHF 10.4 million (85% from the Swiss side, 15% from the Romanian side).
SNSF is cooperating with the Romanian Executive Agency for Higher Education, Research, Development and Innovation Funding (UEFISCDI) to implement the programme. The funded projects will address the following topics:
- Major diseases: cancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and obesity;
- Impact of waste and pollutants on environment and climate;
- Sustainable energy;
- Economic growth and social disparities.
The requirements and procedures for participating in the RSRP are set out in the relevant call document.
The 26 projects were started in 2013 and will be completed by 2016. Most of the projects have already presented their initial results in scientific journals and at international conferences. The following fact sheets offer general information about each of the 26 projects (objectives, activities, expected results, principal investigators and institutions involved) as part of the visibility efforts of the Swiss-Romanian Cooperation Programme (SRCP).
At the end of the programme phase, the researchers will give an account of their entire project and present their definitive research findings.
