Advanced Postdoc.Mobility: integration of SFGBM fellowships into the SNSF
The Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences (SAMS) and the SNSF have jointly decided to integrate the Advanced Postdoc.Mobility fellowships of the Swiss Foundation for Grants in Biology and Medicine (SFGBM) into the SNSF as of 2015.
From then on, all applications for Advanced Postdoc.Mobility fellowships from all disciplines (incl. applications in experimental and clinical medicine as well as in biology as a basic medical science) will be evaluated by the SNSF. The corresponding regulations have been amended accordingly and an evaluation commission established to evaluate fellowship applications that were formerly assessed by the SFGBM.
Advanced Postdoc.Mobility fellowships allow researchers to spend a research stay abroad as postdocs for a duration of 12 to 36 months (fellowship). In addition, when filing their fellowship application, they have the option to request a return phase of 3 to 12 months (salary and social security contributions) at a Swiss research institution.
The next call for proposals for the Advanced Postdoc.Mobility scheme is planned for 1 November 2014, with the submission deadline on 1 February 2015. The old SFGBM deadlines of 1 March and 1 September are no longer valid. Holders whose fellowships are ongoing or have been awarded by the SFGBM before year-end 2014 should address the SNSF as of 1 January 2015 if they have any questions. As of this date, the SNSF will be responsible for managing these fellowships.
