Learn how to make your media and public relations activities more effective and how to get your message across clearly.

Science is in the public spotlight. Politicians, the media and society expect researchers to explain their work, ask questions and provide answers. The SNSF offers these courses to support communication between researchers and the public.

Do you want your research to reach a large audience?

In the SNSF course programme, you will work with experienced experts to strengthen your media presence – whether in front of the TV camera or the radio microphone, in print media, on social media or in video interviews and video conferences. You will develop precise language that generates interest and gets to the heart of your research in a way that is easy to understand.

In the social media workshop, communication professionals will help you develop your own social media strategies and forms of presentation. You will learn how to qualitatively evaluate social media content and use it for your own communication needs.

Concise videos are one of the most important formats in the world of social media. Making videos is now possible for everyone – both technically and creatively. In the workshop, you will learn the most important steps: from the concept to the finished video. Basic knowledge of an editing programme for smart phones is required to participate.

During the one-day media training, you will practise presenting your messages in a clear and convincing way in front of a camera and microphone. Media training is also offered as a course for female researchers only. The learning objective of this course is almost identical to that of the others. The focus here is on providing targeted support to help female researchers achieve greater visibility in the media through convincing arguments and confident presentation.

Media training is also offered in English. It offers foreign-language researchers the opportunity to practice interviews primarily in a Swiss national language, while the course itself is held in English.

In the one-day intensive text course, you will learn how to communicate your research results in a way that a nonexpert audience can understand them.

All courses are intended for SNSF-funded researchers and project staff with communication tasks. The SNSF covers the course costs. Through exchanges with experienced experts, you will acquire valuable skills to strengthen your media presence. In past years, these courses have filled up quickly. Registration is now open. Registrations are binding and the number of places is limited.
