The SNSF Scientific Image Competition 2025 is now open
Show off your research in a new light! Researchers working in Switzerland are invited to submit their photographs and videos to the SNSF Scientific Image Competition. Submission deadline: 31 January 2025.
The latest edition of the SNSF Scientific Image Competition is now open. The SNSF invites researchers working at a higher education or research institution in Switzerland or Liechtenstein to submit their photos and videos by 31 January 2025. Only images produced after 1 January 2024 are eligible for the competition.
Competition categories
Entries can be submitted in four categories:
- object of study
- places and tools of research
- women and men of science
- short videos
For each category, the jury will award a first prize of 1,000 francs and several honourable mentions of 250 francs each. Chaired by Emanuela Ascoli, photo director of National Geographic France, the jury also includes photographer Andri Pol, Plateforme 10 director Patrick Gyger, Austrian biologist and artist Tanja Gesell and Tess de Ruiter, art-science curator from the Netherlands.
The prize-winning images will be exhibited at the Biel/Bienne Festival of Photography from 2 to 25 May 2025. All of the images that have been submitted to the competition since its inauguration in 2017 – more than 3000 in total – are available online and can be freely used.
