Researchers trying to obtain a Scholars at Risk grant must contact a representative of Scholars at Risk Switzerland Section first.

Applications cannot be submitted by the scholars themselves. They must be submitted either by the Scholars at Risk coordinator at the host institution or by the researcher who acts as a scholar’s academic host (in which case the coordinator must act as co-applicant).

In order for a researcher to be eligible for the SNSF’s Scholars at Risk support, they must have been assessed and confirmed by Scholars at Risk as being under threat.

Scholars at Risk grants an amount of CHF75,000 for the first 12 months. It also offers a one-time possibility for grants to be extended by CHF25,000 for a second year. No extensions are available beyond this.
