Federal Council approves National Research Programme on digital change
The Federal Council has mandated the SNSF to run a new National Research Programme. It will focus on the opportunities and risks of digital change for society and the economy.
On 21 September 2018, the Federal Council approved a new National Research Programme (NRP) on digital change. The programme will be conducted by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
NRP 77 will address the interrelationships and specific impacts of digital change in Switzerland. It will provide a basis upon which to develop an optimum framework for effecting digital change. The key areas of research are "Education, learning and digital change", "Ethics, trustworthiness and governance" and "Digital economy and the labour market". The programme will run for five years on a budget of 30 million francs. The programme is part of the Action Plan on Digitalisation in Education, Research and Innovation for the years 2019 to 2020. The call for pre-proposals will be launched by the end of 2018.
